Friday’s Change Reflection Quote Leadership of Change® Permanence Is an Illusion, Be Change Ready

“Permanence is an illusion. Nothing remains the same and at some point in time, everything changes. Be change ready"

👏 Happy Friday!

On this day, March 31, 1959, the spiritual leader of Tibet, the Dalai Lama, crossed the border into India after an epic 15-day journey on foot from the Tibetan capital, Lhasa, over the Himalayan mountains. He fled his country following the annexation of Tibet by the People’s Republic of China. He was offered asylum in India, where he settled in Dharamsala, in northern India. The area, “Little Lhasa”, became home to the exiled Tibetan government and about 80,000 Tibetans who followed the Dalai Lama. Even after his exile more than half a century ago, the reach of Tibet’s spiritual leader has extended far beyond his community, and he is now recognised as one of the world’s leading religious figures. In 1989, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his consistent opposition to the use of violence in his pursuit of Tibetan self-rule.

✅ The 14th Dalai Lama is the spiritual leader of the Tibetan people and travels the world, spreading his message of peace, non-violence, and compassionate responsibility for his fellow human beings. He has authored or co-authored over 110 books, covering subjects such as philosophy, inspiration, and ethics. The Dalai Lama tells us, “Nothing is permanent.” He is the epitome of a selfless individual and continually states that he is a simple Buddhist monk. Impermanence is one of the essential doctrines of Buddhism. The doctrine states that all things are in continuous change, subject to decline and destruction. We typically want things to stay the same because permanence provides security. Similarly, in business, we want permanence, we want stability and security.Permanence Is an Illusion, Be Change Ready.

“Permanence is an illusion. Nothing remains the same and at some point in time, everything changes. Be change ready"

👉 The 2020s have so far been a period of massive disruption, and the way we work, live, and socialise is changing quickly and dramatically. Organisations are operating in unprecedented times and there is no permanence. What we know and how we’ve worked before to make us successful could now be a barrier to future success. We will all need to be adaptable and have a growth mindset if we want to survive and flourish. Employee adaptability is the ability to be innovative, creative, and flexible in our changing work environment.

Have a fantastic weekend with the ones you love and care for, enjoy some fresh air, exercise, eat, drink and be happy.
