Happy-Clappy Change Practitioner: Refers to an individual who approaches change management with an overly optimistic and enthusiastic demeanour. While their intentions may be positive, this term is often used to highlight a superficial or overly simplistic approach to change. These individuals tend to focus primarily on the positive aspects of change, often downplaying or ignoring the implementation challenges and complexities, such as the sponsor and leadership team’s responsibilities. They tend to engage like-minded or receptive people, performing activities that are disconnected from change implementation instead of ensuring there is effective and proactive leadership, and the change is aligned with the organisation's processes and systems. When they leave, the hope they brought soon turns to despair as the employees quickly realise they have left little or no sustainable impact or benefit.
