Friday’s Change Reflection Quote - Leadership of Change® - Nothing remains the same

👏 Happy Friday!


On this day, September 9th, 2015, Queen Elizabeth II becomes Great Britain’s longest-reigning monarch at 63 years and seven months. Unfortunately, we lost our Queen yesterday. We will miss her leadership in the global arena where she served with strength, dignity, power, and poise.


Also on this day, in 2003, Apple iTunes sold its ten millionth song just four months after launching. After eighteen years, iTunes was discontinued and replaced with three separate apps: Apple Music, Apple Podcasts and Apple TV. A reminder to us all of how quickly things change, not that we need a reminder after the last thirty months with covid, the great resignation, the desire for hybrid working and quiet quitting.


✅ The 2020s have so far been a period of massive disruption, and the way we work, live, and socialise is changing quickly and dramatically. Nothing remains the same.


👉 Organisations are operating in unprecedented times. This means we can’t continue to think that the way we work, live and socialise will be the same tomorrow. What we know and how we’ve worked before to make us successful could now be a barrier to future success. We are operating in the ‘Age of the Employee’, with changing customer buying habits, rapid technological improvement, high energy costs, etc. We will all need to be adaptable and have a growth mindset if we want to survive and flourish. Employee adaptability is the ability to be innovative, creative, and flexible in our changing work environment. Employees want to feel included, valued, engaged and this means organisations and their leaders will have to have a strategy and service offerings that ensure the wellbeing of their employees. It means being more flexible with home working and facilitating the digital nomad. Organisations, leaders, and employees with a growth mindset will be successful. Growth mindset employees will embrace change, seeing it as an opportunity to improve organisation performance or personal growth. Challenges are opportunities to learn and develop. Effort and attitude determine success, and we live in an era where we need to continually try new things.
